    My clients in Herts, many of whom are self employed one man band trades people or London cabbies, on ave take home around £1000 pw, with typical Taxable net profit of about £20,000 max.

    Firemen as another example typically have a second job on thier 3 or 4 days off per week, so on top of thier £33k they will make a few hundred more per week as window cleanrers or bouncers.

    Typical Essex types I see that for example run one of those pet centres, or stone merchants, or fireplace suppliers or hot dog vans will make a considerable amount under the radar. Go to places like Chingford, Epping, Ongar, Woodford, Romford or Loughton and you will find endless well off rough diamonds with Range rovers and villas abroad.

    All official stats should be treated with great care.
