    Hi danehardinge,

The address quoted about is the address for our head office.

    Kind regards

    Graeme @ ScottishPower
    Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Scottish Power. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"
  • Hi macman,

Just like you, I had rejected ScottishPower's price increase but for me that was from 1st August this year. And surprise, surprise ScottishPower have been delibrately sending me inaccurate billing in the hope that I would pay them off and keep quiet. I was not only billed at the wrong tariff but they also imposed cancellation charge which they are not supposed to do.

I complained to Scottish Power by email by following their complaints procedure as shown on their website. And guess what? They didn't even acknowledge my email, so then I escalated to the next stage by email their customer services director but again my email was ignored. I then posted my complaint here on MSE and one of their advisor's asked me to forward my emails to him. Eventually they admitted that my emails were ignored as I already had another ongoing complaint. They then agreed to refund the cancellation charge and adjust my bills to the correct tariff.

These types of mistakes are always conveniently blamed on "system error". Surely if it's a "system error" then it can be easily corrected and it should have been after the first complaint they had.

This has been going on since August and still hasn't been completely resolved.

I will now take up my complaint with the Energy Ombudsman and ask them to carry out a formal investigation.

I would encourage everyone who has experienced problems with their energy suppliers to make sure they raise their issue with the energy ombudsman - I know that it is a long process but if enough people make complaints to the energy ombudsman then only will things start to change.

By all means make your complaint in writing to the Scottish Power's head office but then also follow this up with going directly to the energy ombudsman after the 8 week period or after getting a final response letter/email from SP.

Have a read of this article about how Scottish Power treat pensioners - truly shocking:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/consumertips/jessicainvestigates/8890846/My-energy-penalty-was-extortion.html

So please, please take your complaint up with the energy ombudsman - even if the energy ombudsman takes the side of the energy supplier your complaint along with others will force them to take action like they did with nPower.

let us know how you get on.
