oooo I forgot something lol
I always leave feedback for buyers after I receive payment. I wish other sellers would do it that way, I mean a buyer buys and makes a payment and you leave them feedback for paying you quickly without any fuss.
It really winds me up when a seller doesn't leave me feedback first and then sends me feedback reminders.
I once looked for a tool to send a seller a feedback reminder but ebay don't do it lol.0 -

Go on then
I'm just a newbie buyer but I might become a seller and I want to avoid people like me - always in a flap

How about the buyer that lived in Hollland and din't understand english..... not in itself a problem. Asked after he won the item whether it had dutch subtitles... to which I replied that it didn't....So he said he had didn't have to buy it because of dutch law....He also stated he had sent me an email prior to auction asking if it had subtitles and if it didn't he didn't want it.
So i asked if he could send me copies of his emails, because i hadn't received them. He sent me copies of 8 emails in dutch and only three were to me. He bought the same item off two different sellers and he emailed the other seller the question and not me.
I politely stated those facts and that because he was a winning bidder that if he didn't pay I would have to report him to get my fees refunded and if he received three such reports he would be banned.. he then replied with the dutch law line.... and my reply was that I was following ebays policy and if ebays policy was against dutch law then that was a matter for ebay and him and not me.
Obviously he didn't pay. I give my buyers 7 days before they receive a payment reminder, even though my auctions state 5 days (2 days grace) after a further 7 days if i still haven't received a payment I file a npb report with ebay.
So I filed a npb request. I haven't decided what to do about feedback for him yet.
Above all be polite and helpful at all times and however much people make you see red dont lose your temper.0 -
oops forgot to say, despite initially having very poor english and not knowing anybody who spoke english I was very pleased with how he grasped the language after a few emails lol0

Hafta say I would'nt touch Paypal with a bargepole. I only buy stuff at mo (might try selling if I can ever work out how, AND enter the 21st century by buying a digital camera!), but I will only pay by cheque. I've noticed a few sellers recently who offer Paypal only but that just meant lost sales for them from me because I would have paid more than the items ended up selling for.
I've heard far too many negative reports on the hassles of Paypal, and also read reams of complaints about it on the Ebay forums.
I don't mind waiting for my cheque to clear even though I have to wait longer for my purchase (if it's worth buying it's worth waiting for), but if sellers prefer speed of sale to profit, who am I to argue?
If I ever become a seller I'll only accept cheques. Contrary to comments about paying by cheque, on another thread , I always email the seller immediately to tell them I'm posting the cheque straightaway, and I always do post it the same day.'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.

Sounds like a real Dutch Auction, or is it in reverse?
I don't know how you managed to resolve it - it sounds totally manic lol0 -
Can anyone give me any advice please? As a novice to eBay, I bought a mobile phone, left feedback immediately to say received quickly but not happy with condition, couldn't get it to work, so put it away (I know, I know, big mistake!) waiting for my daughter to try it. When she had tried three different SIM cards, she told me I had been well and truly done - it was faulty and old and no good. I emailed the sellers and they completely deny everything, of course. They say it was in good working condition when it left them, but I could return it to them for inspection. (BTW, my postage was a third of what they had charged me!) Now, they are not replying to emails, deny having received the phone and won't give me a refund! What do I do? Now, thanks to this site, I have found negative and neutral feedback on the sellers, where there are 10 tales of woe just like this and they reply denying everything, saying payment not made, emails not received, belittling comments, etc.etc. So, now I am out of pocket from my original bid, postage to receive it and postage to send it back! They have both the phone and my money and are probably laughing at me.0

Unfortunately I think you have been done. As you have left feedback you don't even have the satisfaction of getting back to the seller with a neg.
If you can prove you sent the phone back assuming you sent it registered mail, you might try reporting them to ebay as a non performing seller. However, there are time limits for all this so it would really depend on how long ago it really was. Other than that though just take it an expensive lesson. Phones are notoriously 'difficult' on ebay and it is worth only dealing with sellers with a lot of experience of selling phones and lots of positive feedback 99% positive or higher.
Personally as a seller I would feel that a transaction was complete once the buyer had received the item and left positive feedback for me. I would be less than inclined to help a buyer who came back weeks later with a problem. Obviously if you are only talking of having had the phone for a few days that would be a different matter.

Can anyone advise. I've bought lots of stuff off EBay and I'm about to try and sell my first item. I've used Paypal for buying without any problems but now I've got to update. What are the risks involved and would I be better using Nochex?
I get the impression they need to see my bank statement.

Lots of good advice here. I would just add:
Use all the space allowed in your title wisely. This is your buyers' route to you. I think many Buyers do not even bother to tick the 'search title and description' box. Do not waste any of your 55 permitted entries with entries like LQQK and WOW.
I am not sure how new this feature is, I only just found it, but on eBay there is eBay Pulse which advises the most used words in searches by category. Find it at:
http://pulse.ebay.co.uk/
You can use this to help you decide what words to use applicable to what you are selling. When I started selling I got almost no hits, never mind sales. Changed (and changed again) my title and sales followed.
Also check the cost of your listing with the cost checker found on MSE forum
http://www.freewebs.com/alexj2002/ebayfeecalc.htm
I have a made a simplified version of this which calculates listing/final value/paypal charges. By entering purchase cost, sale price, P&P charged and P&P cost it works out your profit after costs. I use it all the time to run 'what/if' scenarios to help make listing decisions. Willing to share it, just PM me.si talia jungere possis sit tibi scire satis 0
