Yes I thought that to start with too. However you are more likely to get buyers if you accept paypal .
Ive been ebaying for just over a month now and have had 20 sales so far all using paypal. It is an easy way of paying and being paid.
You are notified immediately payment is made which I like. If you did have to refund money it would be very easy too I imagine.

I agree, I only buy something if I can pay by Paypal, I don't have a chequebook and it costs me so much more to have to buy a postal order and then have the hassle of posting it off.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Can people keep adding to this topic please?

I'm having problems and I'm only buying! :D

Not only that - PayPal wouldn't pay for my last transaction :o yet there's ample funds. Don't know what I did wrong but I've just had to learn how to write a cheque out again!

M&S shopping's much easier than this palaver ;)

I would advise anyone to send goods out recorded delivery. Even on small items worth very little. The reason for this is that I have had many people email and say the goods have not arrived. I then go to the Roal Mail site on the Internet and once there you can do track & trace on the item. Always I have found the person has not bothered to collect the goods from the post office. Ususally if they are out the post man will leave a note and lots of people ignore the note. After a week or so the post office returns the item to me. I have then had to resend the item but I charge the customer for having to resend.
I have had two people try to say the item has not arrived and ask for a refund. I was able to prove postage and they never got back again once I had found them out to be "trying it on"
Always do your sales from a sunday to a sunday (more people are on their pcs on a sunday than any other time on ebay)

Tell the truth about the item

Show any distinguishing marks on the item ie potters mark labels etc

Add some HUMUOR to your sale people like it and it helps to sell items

Be realistic with the post and packing I use this website for postal costs so get your self some scales (digital is best) http://sg.royalmail.com/servlet/acedispatcher?funcId=100&AceApplication=consignia&pageId=frameset

if you are prepared to ship worldwide mention it (bigger audience = bigger sales)

add 'NO CHARGE FOR PAYPAL' on the sale page

    enjoy it!!

I've picked up loads of handy hints today. Mainly that some of those 'rare' items aren't so rare on the cheaper listing day :D

Good fun though, even just as a viewer.

It always looks a bit 'rarer' when it's typed with the tilde as in:

    ~ Rare ~

I would have a look at similar items to what you want to sell, see how other successful buyers are doing it.

Be careful, ebay charges you to list an item and the fee depends on the start or reserve price. Listing fees can get to be very large amounts if the item you are selling doesnt sell!

Make sure you cover yourself, always get certificate of posting for items up to £28 and send anything with a value above that by some sort of trackable means at least.

Treat your buyers with respect and always be nice, even if they are being awkward or stupid.

I could tell you some stories about buyers...... :D
