Opening a co-op cashminder account is turning into a cross country camel hike for me, confermation letter on the 7th then a polite call then........................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Dosn't send a great message for a happy start between the co-op and me......probably why I hate banks of any kind.

Whilst it's a pain it's not the banks fault. They are bound by anti money laundering and know your customer legislation.

The Financial Services Authority have imposed substantial (>£1m) penalties against banks who cannot evidence these checks.

Makes a change for an ex banker to be defending the banks. :rotfl:
  • .yep thats right! its to encourage people to use park and ride..which I cant do do walking with a stick and having a buggy with a small baby in it.

Sorry, but why can't you use a park and ride? Nearly all buses have flat entrances, and I think most have facilities for push chairs.
So phoned and spoke to completely disinterested bloke who said the only way that I could get the paper work back to them by post was to have it certified like a passport..my gp wanted £25 for the pleasure so reluctantly Ive cancelled my cash minder application. This means that when I go BR..my DD's are going to get bounced back when my account is frozen until I can open another..fab..I guess what I will have to on the day of my court hearing, cancel the DD's contact the companies and just say Ive opened a different account and ask for new paperwork..but I think I will be going to Barclays post BR instead

    You give up too easily...

There are a whole host of people who can certify your documents for Co-op - Persons in a position of responsibility are: Doctor, Dentist, Solicitor, Ministers of Religion, Teachers, Hostel Managers, Social Workers, Care Home Managers, Prison Governors, Probation Officers, Police Officers, Civil Servants, Members of Parliament, Members of the Scottish Parliament or Northern Ireland Assembly, Justice of the Peace, Local or County Councillor, or staff in the registry of a higher or further education institution. In addition a district nurse or midwife who has visited the client in their home.

I have applied and received a pre paid debit card... I think it was the Advantage Gold Premium one. I can organise to have all my wages and D.D's placed on it and use it in AtM's and online. They don't do credit checks and guarantee acceptance. Of course I stupidly opened before I've gone BR so I have to make sure the OR knows that I've opened it in anticipation that LLoyds will close my accounts.

Having dealt with the co-op for many many years regarding car/house,life insurance etc..I do know how slow they can be..Whilst I exept your explanation, I was told I had been accepted??? last week...so unless the posty has bunged my card through someone elses doar I'm still at a loss:(
