Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I have "ripped" the CD onto my laptop, but for some reason I can not get it across onto my MP3, I have tried via Windows Media player, and iTunes, but just can not get it to go.
What am I doing wrong??
Thanks in advance :T

We can't tell where you're going wrong without more info.
What have you ripped it as? What file type?
Can you see the ripped files with Win Explorer? Have you saved the files to the HDD of your PC? If you right-click on one of the files, is the file type definitely mp3?
What method are you using to transfer it to your mp3 player? What make/model of mp3 player is it? Since you're using iTunes, is it an iPod?
Is the method you're using the method specified in the instructions for the mp3 player? If you're using an iPod, are you Syncing the iPod to the iTunes library?0 -
opps sorry for not giving more info... I'm at work at present, but will try my hardest to give as much as I can...
It's not an iPod, thought that was the problem, hence trying WMP from itunes.
I've ripped it to the HDD, and can play it through WMP, but I can not drag it into the sync panel/MP3 player.
It's a fairly "cheap" MP3 player, I did have my music on there, of which I cleared to purely have just audio books on it instead.
Any other info you need please just say and I will try and get it.... I'm just grateful for the help0 -
If you open windows explorer, you'll probably find your player appears as a removable drive. You should be able to drag'n'drop straight onto it and not have to mess around with WMP, iTunes or anything else.
You'll also be able to check that there's enough free space on it for whatever you're trying to copy over.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
Hi, thanks.
I have tried the drag and drop too, and you can see the files on the MP3 player, but when you press play, nothing plays0 -
What kind of mp3 player is it?
You say you cleared your music off it before putting your books on. Can you remember what the file structure was before you deleted them? Some players need the music files to be dropped into particular folders before they will play them.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
if it's a cheap MP3 player it might not support WMA, I am assuming you have ripped it via Windows Media Player yes? Almost certainly this is a DRM issue since an el cheapo mp3 player won't support DRM protected files.
So, options - buy an mp3 player that supports DRM files, use a program such as FairUse4WM: http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/FairUse4WM-freeware-DRM-removal-Windows-software-Strip-copy-protection-from-WMV-ASF-WMA-Windows-Media-Player.htm
orrrrr do as I do, use CDex:
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
which'll give you DRM free mp3's for maximum win0 -
Windows Media Player yes?
click on "RIP" button, set format to MP3
when ripping starts - decline the offer to add DRM0 -
Shirley DRM isn't an issue when you rip from CD. Also if i remember correctly the default WMP setting for ripping is with DRM off. Just another thought if the rip of an audio book is one huge file then there may be size problems on the player.
It would help if the Phyzelda can confirm that the ripped files are MP3 (not WMA) and let us know the make/model of the player.
Another option to try is to download a legal mp3, such as a BBC podcast (pick a short one to try) and drag and drop that to the player.

if the files are WMA try converting them to mp3 i use
http://www.free-audio-editor.com/otherfreeproducts/products.htm
its free and converts lots different audio files, it could be that your player only plays mp3s0
