Dander is absolutely correct. If it is the House Builder who you contracted to fit the kitchen, then your contract is with the house builder and not the kitchen fitting company. There is no point getting the world and his wife involved if the kitchen company has no direct liability to you.

You need to go to the house builder before making accusations against the kitchen installer.

You also need to remember that the most either the house builder or the kitchen installer will do is refit the old one with an 18mm gap in it.

I suspect you are trying to infer that you think the Microwave has gone wrong because of the lack of an 18mm gap. This is hardly likely and will be impossible to prove. Therefore neither the kitchen installer nor the the House Builder will be liable for providing you with a new Microwave, especially after 6 years.
