Virgin also track your payments on your credit file. They use Equifax. Your payments (i assume just for the duration of your initial contract) appear on your credit file as if it was a loan or credit card. Green zero's for paying on time etc. They kept this quiet when I signed up , a bit really naughty. Also in light of this it's a very bad idea to cancel your dd or pay your bill late with Virgin as other lenders will be able to see this on your credit file (if they use Equifax).0

The didn't really 'keep it quiet' - it forms part of their T&Cs and has been part of my agreement since the days of NTL!0

I think it's more unusual not to credit check. BT do it, too. Given that they are the biggest - they've pretty much got the market covered.
You might be better looking at contract dongles with no download limit.
BT did a credit check on me in 2010 and I was given a phone line. O2 BB was given to me too. Have had O2 mobile for about 10 years.
2011 I was turned down for an O2 phone line after credit check.
All a bit odd?0 -
