i have also been linked to him at an address that i didnt live at the time they say we are linked back in 2007 and 2008 at his previous address how can this be?

Maybe by the electoral role (sp) ? Im linked to my partner financially but we dont have any loans or cards together , we both have seperate credit cards (diff banks) but live at the same address , so are linked via address ? This is just a guess , im sure someone brainer will come alongThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Are you absolutely totally certain that he didn't financially link you somehow? EG applying for a loan or credit card in both names? I'm not sure if it shows up on experian if it was turned down...0

People are linked through their address even if they have no other connections (i.e. even just flatmates living at the same address might show up on each others credit records). I think you can get a declaration put on file to separate this (or at least correct the address they have for you in 2007/08), but I think it does cost - equifax/experian should be able to give you details if it is an option (perhaps on their website?).0

who knows how it works i have applied for an amendment to be made to my report, will see if they do it, it maddens me how we can be linked before we even lived together lol0

This happened to me once, when we looked into it I had applied for a loan and part of the application was a question saying who was living at the same address. They had then made the financial link even though the other person wasn't on the loan and didn't have anything to do with it.
Experian had to wait until A&L had confirmed that there was no link (and I complained about the question) before they would take the link off.
I was pretty mad at the time as my ex had a terrible credit record.
You need to find out who says you are linked and approach them to find out why.0 -
i know it very annoying, i can see who has linked us but i have looked up there names and cant find anything on some of them, and some of them are debt companies aaargh0

If you ask this question on the Credit Cards part of the forum, they'll be able to help - they're very knowledgeable on CRAs there. My understanding was that just living at the same address should NOT cause a financial link.0

My link was caused by a innocent sounding question on a form. Once challenged they did remove it, admitting that being at the same address should not link you. I was extremely cross and they were very apologetic. (I almost ended up with a CIFAS marker due to that little incident, so you can probably guess just how cross I was.....)
You need to get to the bottom of this, if they are DCAs then your credit rating will be trashed.0 -
have contacted experian they are going to contact the companies that have linked me and try to get them removed they told me on the phone a link can only be made if an application has had my name on it also, so when i ever find him i will kill him lol, thankfully i am not being chased for the debts so i can only assume the applications where refused thankfully,0

A work colleague found out when she was turned for credit that she was linked to a guy who shared the same building as her...an old house converted into 4 totally separate apartments. He had run up massive debts, huge credit issues and the fact they shared a postcode went against her. She did get it overturned but it came as a hell of a shock and was a real incoveneince at a time when she was relying on being able to get the credit she was after0
