Cannot get e mail from AOL

I am running Vista, using Firefox as my browser and Avast for security at the moment (freebie version), and over the last couple of days, I have been able to sign in to my AOL account, but not read any E mail. I have 32 messages waiting, and I need to read them all.
I wondered if any other AOL users are having problems.
As I said, I can sign in to my AOL, but when I click on the mail icon, it either freezes, or if I get to the options for reading mail/old mail/spam, then nothing happens when I click on the choice.

Assuming you mean the AOL Webmail - working fine for me.

    Have you tried another browser?

Fine here too, try this link

    my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?seamless=novl&locale=us&offerId=mail-first-en-us

if you can login to mail but not see your mail in the Inbox, try changing the option to Basic Mail or Accessible Mail at the bottom of the page

Tried the basic version, but it froze.
  • Are you blocking any scripts?

logging out and then back into Basic should display...no?

Do you see Accessible version as an option at the bottom?

I tried clicking on the link, but the blank screen comes up, as if it is loading, and then nothing happens, nothing loads.
    Thanks anyway.

Sorry, what do you mean by "blocking any scripts", is this something which Avast would do as a matter of course, because it does seem to block stuff on a regular basis.
  • i was thinking maybe a Firefox plugin such as Noscript?

the reset link works great for me, didn't lose any mail either, lol

    Another option,
Do you use an email client, such as Thunderbird for other pop mail?

if so, AOL can be accessed via pop, just add a new account,
i could give you the mail settings for pop if you need them ....

Internet Explorer is not working either, I was going to try to log on there. Something to do with a "proxy server".
All of this has happened since I loaded Avast.
Previously, I ran Malwarebytes, then I loaded Avast, and now there are loads of things not working properly. I have a couple of days to go on Avast before the free month ends.
    What shall I do?
