It is not illegal to sell to an under 18 though, so there is nothing they can be held accountable for. Obviously they had credit card details which are sufficient enough to take a payment.
'Knife crime’ is any crime that involves a knife.

    This can include:

    * carrying or trying to buy a knife if you’re under 18

And of course, credit cards can be "borrowed" from parents.

Sadly you have quoted a website that is obviously aimed at people with little legal understanding.

Section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act states that you can carry a non locking, folding knife with a cutting edge of less than three inches. There is no age restriction on this.

In relation to sales of same the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) (Exemption) Order 1996 means that they can be happily sold to those under 18.

Also that site is very wrong, there is no offence of attempting to purchase a knife if under 18.

Heinnie do have them, but I wanted the one with the Rescue (serrated) blade and the orange handle, and they do not have those sadly. And they will not have them til mid March.

Different handle material. The one on Nik Naks is made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) and is quite lightweigh and easy to clean. The one on HH you have quoted is with a G10 handle and a different blade steel (and I already have one of those!)

Possibly so - not denying that at all. However, it is the DirectGov site and most people would look there for guidance

But, the point I'm trying to make is - as far as the shop is concerned, they are better to be over cautious then face any possible repercussions.

Well the repercussion they will now face will be that I will no longer shop there, and I spend quite a large amount on items they have in stock every month, had Mrs C got good service then I would have happily purchased more knives from them.
