Hotel Pricing

I have just looked online to check price of The Cedars Inn at Barnstaple.
According to the hotel's website, a double room booked direct with them is £90 including breakfast. I just phoned and was quoted £90 for one night for a double.
On BedandBreakfasts.co.uk and the laterooms website, the same double room is apparently available for 2 people for £45. However the small print says "quoted prices are per room per night and are an average of the length of the stay. Actual prices may vary on individual nights and are based on standard occupancy". What on earth does THAT mean?
I am looking for one night only and a discrepancy of £45 on one room does seem a lot. Am I missing something here? Is there a catch?

Maybe it is a mistake. You can always ring them and ask them if you can book it direct at that price or whether its a web only price.
Sounds like they could have put their prices in wrong on the two websites and have meant the £45 per person rather than per room, or it maybe that they are rates for late availability and the hotal doesnt update thei website to reflect this?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
If laterooms have it for £45 then book it. It will be correct. The price you pay with them is the room, so it does not matter if say you book a family room for 1 person the price will be the same.
I have been looking at one that is £100 cheaper than the hotel itself0 -
Its also available at £45 on https://www.activehotels.com"Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

Book it with a website, the hotel is trying to maximise their rates. The rooms will be the same, the only difference is the price you will pay.0

if easyjethotels.com have it then they refund double the difference0

Not against the hotels website, active hotels or laterooms .
My guide has a list of companies who qualify0 -

It means that it might not actually cost £45 a night. For example, on the first night it might cost £55 and on the second night £35 but on average it works out at £45 p.n.
Check out https://www.hotels-comparison.co.uk for a "screen-scraper" that will pull many different hotels' web prices together in one place for you (similar to skyscanner for flights)
