Unwanted SMS messages
I had exactly this experience with my T-Mobile mobile: items appearing on my bill under "Third Party Items". However, T-Mobile responded promptly when I challenged these items. They explained fully what they were, found out which company it was sending them, confirmed that I had never requested them and refunded the items. They also marked my account so as not to receive any further items. However, they did advise me on one slightly worrying matter. Allthough many of these pestilential companies are registered in the UK, some calls emanate from overseas, and T-Mobile said that despite their best efforts, many of the companies will not "cease and desist" sending these messages and T-Mobile claim they are powerless to stop them.
If messages do arrive that you do not recognise, just delete them without opening, then there is no charge.

I'd be interested if they were trotted into the High Court in London, if they could force you to pay for the messages, if they are powerless to stop them. It would make for an interesting point of law...
Perhaps your MP needs to chat to them about the concept of !!!!!! Turpin in an electronic age ![ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2004 it is unlawful to send an unsolicited sales and marketing text message. Telemarketing companies who send SMS messages need your prior permission.
You can register your phone/mobile with the Telephone Preference Service to stop unsolicited marketing calls.
