Perhaps you should have called them first?
Call them instead of shouting "rip off".0 -
I find it difficult to comment, as we don't even know what amount was that charge on...
Also if it was credit balance why did he not just request the money back? Or he didn't because they would be returned to the place where they came from?
Sounds well weird moving money around like this..0 -
I think you need to check it out.
But I can't understand why you did it this way either.
Why don't you check out the charges before you do it next time?0 -
Why could the funds not be transferred directly to your current account? That gum you like is coming back in style.0
-
We don't understand.I did but had no alternative
Why couldn't you do a BACS payment?
Did you do a balance transfer from another credit card or something?
What were the charges for? money transfer fees? charges?
Did you know they were going to be that high before you did it?
If you want help/advice and/or sympathy then we need to understand what you were doing and why you couldn't do it any other way.0 -
I presume the transfer was for around £12,500?
If this is the case, then there is nothing out of the ordinary for the fee involved. Standard fare, the same fee you would have to pay to any credit card issuer in the land for this amount.
I think discrediting (or attempting to discredit) First Direct in your original post is unjustified, as they are acting within the terms you agreed to and on par with all other credit card companies in the land.
You knew you couldn't transfer direct from Virgin to MBNA, you knew FD would charge a fee (as is the norm) yet are "disgusted"?
But you incurred the fee through the choices you made... I'm confused...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I agree with izools.
It's perfectly above board and you are out of order with your comments about one of the best banks in the land (according to customer satisfaction surveys).
If you voluntarily agreed to go ahead with something that disgusted you then that's your look out.0 -
It was either worth paying £360 for, or it wasn't.
I find many things disgusting, but offering an optional service at a pre-advised price is not one of them.0 -
Why didn't you just transfer the funds from MBNA virign to your First Direct current account?
Ah, you were trying to save 1% on the transfer fee.
You ballsed up. Live with it.0 -
Go ahead and complain if you think it's unfair.
However on legal grounds I don't think there is anything legally wrong with it.0
