BT Broadband Choking

Hi - not sure if I have chosen correct title for my post - however here is my problem. My BT download speed during the day is usually around 5 to 6 Mbps. A few months ago I got Apple TV for watching movies, and my freesat was enabled to play the iplayer, with a result I am now downloading more than I was ( although I am on BT unlimited). Since xmas I have noticed that from 6pm onwards my download speed drops to 0.5 to 1mbps, making it impossible to watch films on apple tv or the higher def iplayer. I was always aware that BT managed traffic, but am I being punished for now being a heavier user, and hence having my speed knocked back to 0.5, or is the traffic management more a general effect.
Thanks
Thanks

You may have exceeded their FUP, I'd get in touch and ask, or it could simply be congestion on their network and you are being throttled. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
