What's your budget? I've heard good things about the Orange San Francisco which you can get for under a hundred quid on Pay As You Go. The HTC Wildfire is about £150 (again PAYG) but better specced, but if you just want it for internet, skype and facebook/messaging then the Orange one might suit your needs. Again though, if your budget is lower than that there are probably other phones to suit (I think internet/facebook is pretty standard on most phones now).
If you'll be using the net a lot, you'll probably want to be on a deal with a decent data package because it'll cost a LOT otherwise. You could always go for a 1 month rolling contract if you don't want to get tied down, may offer better value for money if you use your phone a lot.0
