We stayed at the Hotel Isabel in costa Adeje over Christmas, they have villas, apartments and bungalows ( which are ground floor apartments ) they all have their own sitting out areas, and it is designed like an old style Canarian village so there aren't hordes of people traipsing past your door and disturbing you. It is a bit of a hill down to the beach, but it's about a 10 minute walk, not too bad at all. The area is really nice though, we didn't see a football shirt for the first week we were there, if you get my drift...:D

We went on the submarine safari round at Golf Del Sur next to the airport - I'm very glad we didn't choose there, it was in the middle of nowhere, I can only guess how expensive the local shop would be with such a captive audience, though the accomodation was cheaper to rent when we had looked into it.

  • we have just got back from playa paraiso which was brilliant, if you want to get a bus into costa adeje or Las americas it was 3.50 euros for two of us the resort is quite but has a really nice man made beach and a lido which is really nice

Best to rent a car if you're staying here.

The Mercadona supermarket up the road from Golf del Sur is outstanding - excellent quality food including a large variety of fresh produce, and great value. There's also an Iceland for those of you who miss the delights of the UK!

Los Abrigos (20 mins walk) has a fish restaurant to die for plus various others.

The beach at La Tejita (15 mins by car or bus) near the Montana Roja is a couple of miles long, sandy and deserted.

Golf del Sur is close to the airport but quiet, and a million miles from las Americas in every sense.

We're off there again on Tuesday - can't wait.

Exactly, we stayed in Golf del Sur (see my post above, though I didn't mention the resort name in the text!) and loved it. Yes it's fairly quiet, but you certainly don't want drunk teenagers around when you've got a baby. As well as the Mercadona, the small supermarket in San Blas centre is a Netto, so is quite cheap anyway. The small shops around the hotel were indeed expensive though. And as for the aircraft, they made very little noise, as there were plenty of buildings shielding them, and on landing the engines are barely on tickover anyway!
