Hi
If you go over to tripadvisor and the tenerife forum, you will get plenty of advice.
But i would say the las americas area, it is a large resort, and lots of people will come and say oh veronicas -the clubbing area etc, well take a look at this map
http://www.tenerifetravel.com/maps/southtenerife_large.html
and look at grid D6 and see how small veronicas is.
I like the area around the grid C D E 8 , it's a flat area, and is not far from the massive lovely las vistas beach, and there is a lovely flat walkway to los cristianos, and plenty of nice pubs and restaurants in this area.
But it does all depend on what you want from a holiday.
Do you want s/c or a hotel?0 -
thanks for info either sc or hb .0

h/b in the area i mentioned would be the hotel bitacorra, nice family hotel, with a good pool area.
s/c then parque santiago 3 is a wonderful complex but it's swimming pool is sea water, which puts a lot of people off
I would research your holiday costs for apts/hotels in the area i mentioned then come back and ask for opinions.
the area i mentioned is flat, a massive bonus with a pram, some good bars, where you can sit outside with the pram and watch the inside entertainment, a nice kiddy area for baby rides, our little one loved them, a nice beach.0 -
We stayed here with our 10 month old:

Was really nice. We had a ground floor apartment (so he couldn't fall off the balcony), there was a pool patio, beach club and small black sand beach (the only golden sands beach in Tenerife, Playa de las Americas, had its sand imported from the Sahara!) There was a small town square with restaurants, cafes and bars about 15 minutes walk away, with a small supermarket. Transfer time from the airport was only 10 mis or so. We rented a car for 2 days out of our week and took a trip up to the volcano one day, and went to Loro Parc the other day (with a visit to a large supermarket which would have been 45 mins walk from the hotel). The whole trip was booked through lowcostholidays.com with flights on Monarch. Everywhere was really nice with our baby, with high chairs, the shops mentioned all sold nappies, wipes and baby food (even though we brought most of our own!)
Hope this helps!

Signol i've just read the reviews on that hotel, and have to say that they don't seem that good.
Golf del sur is a quiter resort of tenerife, and sometimes can get some aircraft noise, depending which was the planes come in to land.0 -
I think its a bit selfish to subject a 16 month old baby to an unnecessary flight to tenerife. Could not you wait for your holiday till the little lad or lassie is a bit older, you may have fun, but I am sure the baby wont enjoy the flight.0

TRRER - I fail to see what is selfish about taking a 16 month old on a holiday abroad, fun on the beach, swimming in the pool, new sights, new experiences.
She has been on a 7hr flight, and was amazing, smiling and giggling the whole journey. As long as they drink or suck something on the take off/decent then there is no problem with the flight.0 -
We went to Puerto de la Cruz in January, it was really good and can recommend the area for young families. We stayed in a budget,2star apartmant, it was very cheap and was more like a 3 star one. It was 5 min from beach.0

It's this one. It was 5 min from bus station, 5 min from beach and 10 min from main square (don't read the reviews about the distance to city centre, it was very very close). We requested a sea view room, got nr 410 on the fourth floor (top floor, 2 working lifts). It was with double bed, plus sofa bed, kitchenette, really nice bathroom with bath (so good for toddler). Food was not the best but we are not picky so came out cheaper than going out to eat every night. There are 100s of restaurants though. We paid for 7 nights half board £307 for 2 people. Hope this helps.0
