something good re esa atos medical

I had my medical a week ago today, couldn't wait anymore it was making me feel sick, gave esa a call today and was told i would get a call within 3 hours.

Huge sigh of relief, i have satisfied them and scored 45 points.

Just to let people know who took a genuine interest, and to also let people know that even though it is scarey going because of the way esa medicals and atos has been portrayed in the media..

If you do tell the truth, you have nothing to fear, having MS is horrible, especially as it is a hidden disability and having to re explain all the time to people that although you look ok, inside you are not.

ESA have been very very nice to me on the phone, i couldn't of found fault with the way they treated me today.

I can now go back to managing my life, without the financial worry to add to it.

I'm glad you had a good experience. :)
My ATOS medical was fine, and I cannot fault the process at all.
Unfortunately as most people don't comment unless they've had a bad experience, and stories about the system working as it should don't make good media stories, the only time most people hear about ATOS is in a negative context.
    - all the negative stories had me worried about my application/medical for ESA and DLA yet they both went smoothly :)
    Good things do happen :)

It wasn't easy, it got cancelled twice and i was a bag of nerves, worried sick of how i would manage with out the finance. My stress levels went through the roof,

so many horror stories, and i can understand why they are tough on us, because of too many pretending to be ill, well you can't fake test results for MS, or for many many illnessess and diseases, yet we all have to go through this with the worry it brings.

I am just so glad it is over for now, and know that i am genuinely entitled to every penny i receive.

So i have two really good reasons to be happy today, relief that the esa thing is over, and my baby boy is 16 today :)

    Hi Mupette,

Congrats!!!! Do you know which group you are in?

I'm glad to hear of one good result out of all the negatives that abound with the ATOS assessment.

When you get the ATOS report (which you should ask for) it will tell you when you are to be re-tested again.
When I asked for a copy of the report in it's entirity, the ATOS assessor (whether they are right in doing this or not) gave a written personal opinion about me. Whether I was thought to be telling the truth, was I argumentative etc. They put this under the heading of 'Harmful Information - not to be disclosed to the claimant'.

It is very revealing to find what the assessor thinks of you and also gives this personal opinion to the DWP which may or may not be used in the decision making although it has nothing to do with the level of points awarded.

Anyhow - good luck with the DLA claim!!!!

That's great news for you, congratulations!

However I have to toally disagree on your sentiments of if you tell the truth you have nothing to fear. I told the truth at my assesment and failed, when I received the report the majority of what I had told her and said had not been accounted for and there were blatant mistakes/lies in there aswell i.e. takes meds for high blood pressure. I've never had highblood pressure in my life, my meds are for a heart condition! So it isn't always a case of you simply telling the truth. I'm awaiting a tribunal, 5mths so stress so far and nothing.

All that said, congrats again, im glad someone has gotten through the system unscathed.

I'm sorry you had a bad time, i should hope the lies will be revealed at the tribunal, and backpay would be a welcome i bet, let me know how it goes.

As happy as I am that the OP got the right result I cant help but be disappointed that people see it as a reason to 'congratulate' someone.

'Hey, way to go on being sick, you rule'

Mupette, I'm glad you got the result you did.
