Plusnet - Avoiding £25 activation fee?

Hi,

Has anyone who has recently signed up to Plusnet for broadband only, managed to avoid the £25 activation fee?

According to Martin's article, it's possible to avoid the fee if you pay line rental to them or BT and order by phone.

However, I've spoken to a Sales rep who insisted that the only way to avoid the £25 fee is to take out a calls package with them (which isn't practical as we're having a BT line installed on Saturday)

Thought I'd seek others experiences before I call them again in the hope of speaking to a different Sales rep ;)

Comments

  • go through quidco, that covers the activation fee.
  • Ah, yes. Quidco :). thanks for that. £28 cashback looks a good deal.

I assume though that the cashback might not track if I use the choice4 code to get four months free, as it isn't listed on the quidco site as an authorised voucher code.

    I'm thinking of doing this.

    Has it worked?
  • I'm not sure. The choice4 code is referred to on the Plusnet site if you go through Broadband Choices but not if you go through Quidco.

Another option is to sign up through Incahoot.com, which will knock £2 off the monthly broadband bill but again this might invalidate the choice4 code.

I want to make sure the BT line/tariff is installed smoothly first, so will order Plusnet next week and post what happens.
