I thought O2 charged for calling 0800 numbers?

Perhaps this one is a special case?

For cpw o2 contracts you can call them on (free from the handset - DON'T start!) on 0870 111 7200 to check your balance, remaining minutes and/or speak with them. If you dial the 0800 number form the handset I suspect you'll be charged. For O2 itself it's 202 from the handset (or 0870 241 0202 - free from their handset). Always wonder why people don't just look these things up or ask the dealer!

You can also check it online at o2.co.uk once you've registered.

Also, most phones have a counter to keep track of mins, texts, and data usage. I just reset mine every month and then i know where I'm at. The only small problem is that it also counts minutes that you don't get charged for (eg if you have free voicemail), but it's a pretty good indication.

I might point out the obvious: dial 100 from you handset, it is free if you are on paymonthly deal I presume you are.

there is a number to call O2 remaining minutes ......21202


......21202 .. .. send a blank text messages and they will send back your remaining minutes and texts ... this is for contract phones ....

I always call 202 from my o2 handset they send you a text back with the mins / txts you have left or you can request you present £ balance also
