Car written off -can I continue claim from previous accident?

My car was written off on Sun is an accident that wasn't my fault. The damage is to the front.
I'm still chasing a claim against someone who reversed into the side of me in March, the damage is £600 and is completely untoched by Sundays accident.
Can I continue chasing this? That will obviously put down the value of the car so I will get less for it.
Surely they can't get away with the damage caused just because someone else has written it off.
Please help

What is the point in chasing both? As your car was written off by someone else you will get the full value of the car off their insurers. Also, if you claim for the £600 damage you wont just get the cash the insurers will take your car to be repaired, but they cant as its written off.
I dont think chasing the old one is worth doing, but ring your insurance company and they will be able to tell you the ins&outs.

wont they just give me what id would have been worth before Sun accident? With the amount of damage on the other side it would take off a few hundredI'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0

Its a hard one is that and you are probably best speaking to your Insurance Company to see what the situation is.
In theory the person (or their insurance) that wrote the car off should have to pay the value of the car - if its written off then get a few values of the same sort of car and same specifications etc.
Has the damage from earlier in the year been repaired yet? If not then its upto the insurance company - it would be their fault for not getting it sorted sooner surely?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -

I would say that your claim in relation to the first accident is now the difference between what you get for the car and what you could have got without the damage as that is the loss you have suffered as a result of the first acident.0 -
Quite simply, no they can't get away with it because your car has been damaged since then!!
The fact your car has been written off since then is irrelevant. As your car was written off with existing damage to it this will affect the value of the car your insurers are able to pay you for the write off - the cost of the pre-existing damage from the first accident would normally be deducted from any offer they made you.
The two incidents are unrelated and can and should both be claimed for. Have a word with your insurers and they will probably be able to explain how the matter can be handled to your best advantage.

Ok, thanks everyone for your help.
Problem is I switched insurers in Oct so I have different ones dealing with the new case. Do you think thats why the original insurers are being do slow? When I telephoned yesterday the said they had written to the 3rd party insurers, they had denied involvement with the accident. She said she would chase it up today, but surely in 8 months a simple claim could easily be sorted by now. One phone call a week would be sufficient!! They seem to be lazy!I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0 -

CAN YOU CLAIM FOR LOSS OF MARBLES???!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0 -
Going to be a headache but yes both claims have to continue. As others have said, the pre-accident damage will affect the total loss valuation but this wont be the full cost of the repairs (often it is 50-75% depending on the age of the vehicle - the older it is the lower the percentage).
You will need to get all the insurers to talk to each other to argee how the costs will be split up.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
