Orange dolphin plan good for a teenager?
For Christmas my DD (15) is nagging to go on a dolphin contract with Orange.
(I don't understand why, but she only wants Orange)
None of us has had a contract phone before and i'm a bit nervous about being tied in for 18 months and having to trust her to keep to the allowance!
We have our broadband with orange anyway so having that free with the contract will make it less expensive and the phone she wants would be £160 plus the free texts-on paper it looks a good deal
To help me decide please can you give me your opinions and point out any hidden charges etc that would be on top of the monthly £35.
She's not keen, but I have also looked at the Orange PAYG free text top up I would have to buy the phone and top up £20 a month to get 600 free texts, any thoughts on this as well?
While i'm here (sorry ) I emailed Boots mobile to see if orange free broadband was included in the cashback deal, but never had a reply anyone know?
thanks zippy

aparently you can get the free BB orange from a 3rd party, will restart your contract when your ring them
boots should still honour the cashback aparently others have but check with them
if she tops up a half decent amount a month and you think you can trust her not to go over the minds then there shouldnt be a prob, but only u know that, whether she can be trusted with it
only other charges really would be insurance, itemised bills and non direct debit chargeYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Just to let you know I got the free broadband with only a 12 month contract through CPW, no problems at all0

zippy would they really need unlimited sms?
Can you give an estimated max mins/sms they would use per month?
Do they need the latest phone or a specific phone?0 -
^if she went through boots or any other 3rd party she wouldnt get the unlimited text anyway i believe its 500mins and 500texts on the dolphin 35 from 3rd partiesYes Your Dukeiness0

Thanks guys
The phone she wants is the Sony Ericsson W810i white.
On PAYG I top up £10 a month and then she puts £10 of her pocket money on it, but its usually out of credit for most of the month :rolleyes:0 -
if shes surviving on that £20 a month at say 30p a min is 66mins so 500 should be more than enough for her!! shed have to go really overbord
if your still worried just make it a point for the first few months checking her remaining balence every week and if shes good with it cut down on the checkingYes Your Dukeiness0
