Yawn, rather pay £2000 too much and not pay an indemnity fee.
If you came across a place where there was a good deal to be had would you (A) Tell those who might want to know
(B) Keep it too yourself and make sarcastic pointless staements.
I like to pay the listed price for anything that I buy, not some false figure that then is trumped up with " Indemnity charges " added on.
What exactly are they indemnifying customers from?
They seem like a cowboy outfit to me.0 -
The risk/cost from buying from CarGiant being well over the value of the savings.
I assume you are talking about CarGiant and not the over priced mugs that are CarCraft?
How many cars have you bought from CarGiant?
Personally I have bought 5 over the years.
Family and friends have bought another 20 or 30.
Only problem I had was on a Ren 25 back in 1992 where the heater matrix started leaking three days after I bought it, took it back and picked it up three days later fixed, no cost to me, they never gave me a courtesy car, but then I paid £3000 for the car, '89 F Ren 25 TX, and the going rate for one at the Renault dealer 3 miles away on the A40 was just under £6000 with the same mileage, £10k with low mileage.
Feel free to add your issues with Car Giant, which only has one site, Scrubs Lane in West London.
Remember one thing CG has been going for over 20 years, they used to be called The Great Trade Centre, they stock several thousand cars at any one time, and probably sell roughly 200 a week I reckon, no you don't get the coffee and biscuit experience, but it is a lot safer than buying from an auction and several thousand quid cheaper than a main dealer.
I sometimes wonder why Gene Hunt and Inactive post on here though, they never have a positive thing to say and only agree with each other.0 -

You need to visit Specsavers then.
At least we don't promote companies that make additional charges to their prices.
CarGiant even make a surcharge for paying cash !!!!!!!!!!!!.0 -
I would not buy from any company that does not include a basic warranty with their cars.0

No I am talking about CarGiant (as well as Trade Sales, CarCraft, Autoplanet, CarWorld.........). I could go on, but I don't have the time.
My dealings go way back with CarGiant. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Which is illegal. As pointed out above, Trade sales used to do the same thing, until about the hundredth time they fined. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I've known a couple of people who have had cars from CarGiant, and both were underwhelmed by the experience.
Broken promises and lack of attention to detail might be the simplest way to put it, several minor faults/omissions with the cars.
OK, you've saved hundreds so you can afford to replace that missing rear headrest, or fix that broken glovebox lid, or buy the handbook which is missing, or change that oil which obviously hasn't been
But I wonder if CarGiant prices are that cheap.
No two used cars are the same, so it's difficult to compare like with like.
Buying a used car is a chancy business, and main dealers can also pull strokes.
But my experience tells me there's a better chance of a satisfactory outcome if you buy from a franchise dealer.0 -
I've bought from local car supermarkets, the cars came with the car manufacturer's remaining warranty. Paper work was there on the ones we bought, missing bits on the first one were fixed before we picked it up (probably with bits from the same model next to it).
Second one we were told to take it to a main dealer, and we got a cheque back for the work.
I'd recommend them if you know what you're looking for. If you don't they can be a minefield.0 -

Think you will find some car auctions do this aswell, most places don't like to deal with cash in the thousands of pounds, due to money laundering laws.
They are happy to take payment from a debit card though.0
