Home changes after burglary

The insurance company have to be able to prove that it was the locks that allowed the break in to use that as an excuse not to pay out.
If they lobed a brick through the glass and climbed in 5 point locks wouldn't have helped stop this!
However if your policy states you need 5 point locks and someone forces the door they would have reason to not pay out.
I agree most insurers will offer policies that don't have this as a requirement they will just cost you more.
We had to call our insurers about 6 times before they sent us the correct policy document with the discount for having a 5 point lock removed!!0 -
Also do you have security lights, if not get some fitted? As a temp mesure you could put up some dummy alarm boxes which won't help you insurance situation but might deter any burgulars.
EDIT : Opps just seen this advice has already been given above sorry!0 -

you will struggle to get a decent alarm fitted by a security firm (not an electrition!) for that sort of money. ive just had one fitted and it was £775 but i had alot of extras on it aswell. without extras it would of been £550ish and mines a catogery 6 wireless alarm.0
