Problem with my boiler/heating system?

Right just moved in to out new home the past week & have noticed a problem with the heating system. Whenever we switch off the heating user the digital timer it doesn't switch off & the heating stays on, which is leading us to switch off the radiators independently. Now is there a way of fixing this? The boiler is a Potterton Prima B & it appears to be around 15 years old!:o

Most likely problem will be either the ch 2 port valve jammed open, or the microswitch in the head broken, or the 3 port valve if you have one.0
