Although I feel truly sorry for the majority of the unemployed, sadly there are a significant minority for whom unemployment and living off the state is a career choice.
This is probably more noticeable in more prosperous areas where, even now, it is not that hard to find some kind of job if you put your mind to it.
I fully accept that there are parts of the country where this is not true.
Take a walk past your local job centre sometime, you will see what I mean.0
