Any way to avoid Line Rental?

I recently got an X Box and was wondering if there was any way I could get the internet without having to pay Line Rental. I have a phone line in my house (which can't accept or make calls but still has the dial tone) but no internet.

I was just wondering if I could get internet somewhere without paying line rental. I am not going to be surfing online, just playing games and I don't want to pay £20 just for playing games.

In that case sell the X Box and buy a Gameboy because you won't be getting any decent internet service that's usable for gaming for less than £20 a month.

Well Sky is something like £18 p/m.
My friend has o2 internet and she told me something along the lines of having her phone line blocked from making calls. She can still receive calls but she has no line rental.

In that case get that if you can for that price but unless you have a Sky sub too I doubt you'll be able to.

In the main line rental costs almost £13 so that leaves £7 of your budget for internet and you'll be hard pressed to find it for that imo unless you are buying some sort of bundle that will be more than £20. Most low cost internet deals offer either low download caps which won't suit you if you want to download demos or use Steam or offer poor service so you may as well get any avatar you may use kitted up with a white flag from the outset.

Cable costs are similar.

3G is pretty poor for gaming.

Virgin can supply you with broadband without a phone line.

Which (as I already mentioned above) costs £21 for the cheapest package after the first few months.

Am I missing something here ? You want someone to provide you with a physical connection between your X box and the outside word and you want to know if you should pay for the use of this connection..............

Is there any way I can get from London to Bristol by train without paying "line rental" ?
