Have they been iced and decorated? Cost price would just be the ingredients so eggs flour sugar etc so obviously that wont add up to £300 but if its a good quality decorated cake its an adverage price certainly not cost.0

Depending on the sizes it could easily be cost price. I spent £80 on ingredients and £25 on decorations for a 12" square fruitcake for someone's birthday. Don't forget there will be a cost to baking it too.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I make cakes and try and do as cheap as possible. £300 is over for "cost price" BUT its alot cheaper then most people. i know people who are paying £500+ for their cake!
Im doing my own as i cant pay someone to do something that i know cost no where near that much. yes i will be stressed lol but prob still to cupcakes as will only take an hour to do 100.Marrying the love of my life May19th 2012

We had a three tier cake, gluten-free choc sponge on top, then lemon sponge, then choc sponge. Whole thing was decorated which chocolate scrolls. Pic below. We paid £250 including delivery and set-up. £300 doesn't sound like a particularly cut-price deal, but it depends how complex and time-consuming your chosen decoration is.
(We paid our florist for the flowers that are on the cake so they were extra on the £250 cost)0 -
its 8", 10" and 12" and will have buttercream icing. i am buying the decorations myself. my friend is paying for it as a present, but she offered back when we thought it would be about 100, not 300. she knows the people doing it and thats why its cost, i feel so bad that its costing so much but shes insisted she will stil pay for it, i cant afford to even pay half so i offered to just get myu own from m&s arghhhhh im so crossHi, Im Morgan Freeman.

I really think that's OTT for cost price. Ours was probably a similar size to yours (might have been more like 6", 8" and 10") and, as I said, we paid £250 which included full normal profit for the cake lady as we didn't haggle. We had a gluten-free layer and gluten-free ingredients are more expensive than regular.
You are having a fruit layer which we didn't - I guess the fruit is relatively expensive. But I still can't believe the costs are £300.0 -

But if they're a cake company they won't be paying as much as you did for ingredients because they won't be buying from the supermarket....0 -
