they're lovely in a vegetable curry, I know that's kind of a stew, but curry's an all year round dish imho

I quite like the mash idea - didn't know I could do that!

Wow - they look lovely!
Have you tried them sliced and eaten raw? They are seriously delish like that, and lovely grated into a green salad. I also roast them with other veg and have with feta cheese and cous cous, hot or cold, for a lovely summer meal.
As far as storage goes, you don't need to harvest them all now - just take out some and give the others space to grow a bit more. If you can find a wooden or cardboard box (not tin or plastic) and fill it with sand, you can bury the turnips (and any other root veg) in the sand and they will keep for several months. It can stay in your shed as long as the sand is cool when you put them in, and you keep them away from the edge of the box. Just make sure the box is protected from any cats (that might mistake it for a litter tray...)0 -

No, but I'll have a go a bit later.
Trouble is, I don't eat much in the way of salads either.
