poo bags - final destination?

On my walks with Zara I come across poo bags (with content):
1) hang on bushes
2) lying in the bishes
3) hang on trees
Why on earth do people do this?
It takes much less time for a "left alone poo" to decompose than for a plastic bag to do the same.
So rather than picking up the poo in woods/bushes (off footpath), putting in in a plastic poo bag AND leaving that bag behind - it is much more enviromentally friendly to just leave it without the plastic bag.
Why some people are so careless/ignorant and hang poo bags around/leave them in the bushes etc?
If/when I walk Zara n a place where I do pick up her poo - it goes in a bag and I carry that bag till I can put it in a special for that purpose bin.
If she does one off road/off footpath/deep in the bushes where I know nobody is going to accidently step into it - it just stays there.
Can someone explain to me the loginc of hanging poo bags with content on trees?

cos the byaws state if you dog poos you have to bag it when on common land ( private land is different - its up to the land owner)
Only some people wont walk with their bags so leave them where they are - or decorate a tree with them, because there are no poo bins within eye sight0 -
bylaws or not I pick it all up no matter where we are if there are no poo bins it comes home with us and goes in the dustbin for landfill.
I have done this right from a puppy and she knows the score and will happily sit there and wait while I pick it up.0 -

Totally agree with you - although the op seems to believe its ok to pick and choose where to pick it up
I live on farmland, My dog poos in the lanes or fields its bagged ( i take it home though)0 -
Yuk, I hate when people leave dog poo's even in forests and trees and bushes etc, kids footballs etc can go flying in there and people like to walk through forests.
I had a phobia of dog poo when I was a kid, I used to compulsively check my shoes, and even now if I stood on some, I'd throw my shoes right out.0 -
I was asking why people leave the poo bags (with content) hanging on trees/bushes/lyng on the grass?
Lack of bins is not an excuse to do it - it takes ages for plastic to disintegrate.
And as to my not picking up in some places - I mean places where I know nobody goes in/plays the ball etc so absolutely no harm (to anyone) done.
Why picking up and leaving the bags though?
Any ideas for real reasons for thet?
laziness? Wanting to appear to be a responsible dog owner but not really having a clue?0 -
I always pick up after my dogs, no matter where I am. I do sometimes leave said poo bag hanging from a tree etc while walking to my destination if I know I'm not going to pass a bin, then on my way home I collect the bag and dispose of it as soon as I can, which more often than not seems to be my own bin :mad: Lack of poo bins is one of my pet hates, and also the dog owners that leave bags where ever they see fit with no intentions of removing them, having said that, in one local park where I live, the warden has actually told dog owners that it is ok to leave poo bags lying for road cleaners to remove if bins are full, but cant imagine its very nice for road sweepers to actually do this job, so I personally wouldnt be doing this.

Yup, I know that lack of bins is a big problem but still - leaving those hanging on trees is just a complete no no....
The topic started as I walked into one with my face while looking for Zara's ball.....those "decorations" drive me up the wall, it is also quite recent too, never seen so many around before.....0 -
I am sorry, but I think it is completely ridiculous and an over reation to bag up dog poo and take it home when its deposited in a field or wood in the middle of nowhere. That field will have had hundreds of tons of faeces deposited over it in its lifetime - cow, sheep, bird, fox etc etc, some full with parasites, some without. The law does not require it to be picked up (see below) for the very reason that its presence is not seen as a problem and there virtually a zero possibility of it ever coming into contact with another human being before it degrades and rots away.!!!!!! has been rotting away in fields and woods for hundreds of millions of years - !!!!!! even humans are permitted to !!!!!! in the woods when free camping provided certain criteria are met.
By the way, not sure the last time I saw a kid playing football out on the fells? or in the middle of a field full of cows in the countryside.
bodies with a duty to keep land clear of
litter and refuse, or highways clean under s. 89 of
the Environment Protection Act 1990, are required
under the Litter (Animal Droppings) Order 1991, to
keep the following types of land clear of dog faeces:
• Any public walk or pleasure ground;
• Any land laid out as a garden and used for the
purpose of recreation;
• Any part of the seashore which is frequently used
by large numbers of people, and managed by the
person having direct control of it as a tourist
resort or recreational facility;
• Any esplanade or promenade which is above the
place where the tide flows;
• Any land not forming part of a highway, which is
open to the air, which the public are permitted to
use on foot only, and which provides access to
retail premises;
• A trunk road picnic area;
• A picnic site.

Yup - my feelings exactly. And it will happily rot away much faster that way.
Putting it in a bag and leaving it in a bag....nonsense. Takes ages to "rot" that way.0 -
Many people will bag and pick up on the way back, they leave it on a bush or tree so it's easy to find again.
I do this if I'm in the woods with the children, I don't want to be carrying bags of poo around whilst holding their hands and helping them climb trees etc. Although I must admit I try to leave it where others won't be staring it in the face.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
