Where to Buy White PVC Skirting?

  • I hate to say it but I agree with Donna-j, it's not really the norm to have UPVC skirting anywhere other than places requiring high levels of hygine and low maintainance such as hospitals. I doubt you will find it in any DIY shop for this very reason. As others have said try googling polymer skirting some manufacturers will come up who may be able to tell you where you can get them for non trade.

I don't think you will find any suppliers who are cheaper than timber though, so if you are selecting it for cheapness stick to timber.

I'm not selecting it for cheapness, more like being lazy so I don't have to paint it ever again. It was an idea I had as we have had to take off the original skirting just thought I would replace it with some thing better, nothing to do with hygene either. I did google it before I wrote here, but I put in PVC skirting and it only came back with a couple of companies and was quite expensive, now I am all for no DIY but not at ANY cost!! I will try Wickes, but ours is quite a small branch so may not have it and will look into directplastics, thanks for that.

Push comes to shove I'll stick wood back there again, but thought I would try PVC first.

I can't believe that... I suggest you get rid of the pc you are currently using as it is using unnecessary power..

  • I have done whole homes replacing skirting and architrave for those unable to do their own maintenance. It is surprisingly inexpensive when purchased as a whole house bundle from local upvc suppliers. I recommend working out the quantity of lengths required of each size then ring for a quote. Prices vary with different outlets so if a reasonable bundle has been compiled ring around for comparison or ask for a discount.

The plastic comes in 5 metre lengths but if sufficient quantity is ordered then delivery is usually free. Other than that for a small amount, using the family hatchback, helpful staff will normally cut approximate lengths for easy loading or simply go along with a hack saw and your desired sizes. For short journeys some upvc (if the weather is not too cold) will flex to a 'U' shape for convenient stowage.

Leaflets are usually freely available showing different shapes and sizes. If you do not want to do the job yourself, ask at the counter if they know any reliable tradesman. The staff usually know their main customers.
  • Hello

As much as I disapprove :D , I have just found this website while looking for UPVC window boards (don't like those either but have to match existing windows):

I only need a couple of legnths to finish off, but it seems as though Wickes don't stock it any more. Major bummer. I've tried two branches, including Slough, but just get blank looks and directed to the mdf skirting, which I don't want. None of the other diy chains seem to have it either, which seems odd. I suppose there isn't the demand, but given it's advantages, I can't see why this should be.
  • As said before shown73, it's because it's horrid.
  • Hi Davidboy,
why not try Kentsdirect, they have several different styles of skirting and were very helpful, google them.
Also if you sign up for their news letter online you'll get £10.00 off your first order ! Hope this helps
