Abuse/Report

Does anybody else think that admin are far too slow in dealing with Report/Abuse messages?

There are enough members on here who have been with MSE for long enough to be trusted with 'Report' roles...

Can't help but feel these things should be nipped in the bud much earlier as leaving trolls/abusive threads on for a period of time encourages them.

Best advice I have seen is just to ignore and report but its difficult not to at times - I think I will force myself to ignore these people in future and just hit REPORT.
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

They're usually pretty prompt but a) they have been slow in the past when some spammers have posted individuals' credit card details and b) The Arms isn't a priority section of the site, Martin has said this so, resources are directed elsewhere.

Are admin meant to be monitoring the site 24/7?

  • monitoring this site must be fairly difficult, eventually there will always be window where people can just spam the site up. Other sites can sort of get around that by only allowing certain rights (e.g to create threads/post pictures) after they have been with site for a little while or have enough posts.

But thats one of the good things about this site if someone new really needs help and has a question they can just jump in straight away.

Just do what I do Frugal and chill out. Trolls and abusers are lower life forms to be ignored unless you can make fun out of the thread they've created. It's only the internet, nobody died ;)

  • Hi

Again, just to remind you guys - if you don't report to forumteam@ then the team's not aware. We aim to deal with reports within 48 hours. Often it's much much quicker. Sometimes, if it's a more serious issue that needs to be discussed amongst the team then it needs to wait until a time when the team are all together and have time to discuss it amongst everything else they're doing.

Generally as a rule, the more serious it is, the more team discussion is needed so the longer it'll take to deal with.

    Andrea :)
