I googled airey house and found this - seems to be a type of concrete prefab with known structural issues
Thanks Grimbal, I just did the same - you learn something new every day! In my defence, I've only lived in the UK since the mid -90s.
I'm relieved to know it doesn't come with attached stigmata though

Thats what pressing F7 and not reading the changes does ha.
My car analogy probs wasnt the best to compare against.
Although i do accept your points. The EA did know, they inspected and valued it prior to it being put on the market. Im shocked and discusted that this is allowed to happen really.0 -

You inspected it 4 times, and evidently didn't realise it was non-standard construction until someone told you.
How many times do you think the EA inspected it?
The EA is working for the seller. If you were the seller, what would you want the EA to do?0 -
Could it be that the consruction has been sorted, either by the current or previous owners or by the government under the Housing Defects act?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Its their job to know, im pretty sure you could come inspect one of my servers 50 times over and not realise the RAID controller isnt working whereas i could tell you after 5 seconds, because thats what im trained to do. Also half the people on here didnt even know what an airey house is so how am i supposed to realise something that i didnt even know existed.
If i was the seller id expect the person representing me to give an honest and fair assessment, i would feel very bad and even ashamed if i had mis sold anything, nevermind something as life changing as a house. However society these days i take it thats no longer the case.
Silvercar,
Yes the outside has been bricked up however the inside and roof support could need work doing next week or next decade.
I suppose its besides the point now.0 -

No, it's the surveyors job to know, that's why you paid him or her £5000 -

The seller presumably signed off the house details before it went on the market...0
