eBay Selling (Drop Shipper?)

Options
Hi Guys,

Just after a bit of advice, I found this advert on a very popular self employment site, used it a couple of times to design web sites and what not for people, but I just found one that sounds good and dodgy at the same time.

Basically it involves listing products on behalf of a "small business". I send the person an email (gmail account), and received this reply:
I am a small business owner and don't have the time to maintain listings myself, nor do I want to open a new Ebay account and start with 0 feedback. I will pay you £150 per ad and you will be selling at least 10-15 items per week for me once we get going. I will pay for all Ebay and Paypal fees, and I will provide all listing details and photos as well as ship the items to the customers. All you need to do is list the item and send me the customer's shipping info after they've paid so I can ship their item. I will ship and send you a tracking number. When the item arrives to the customer, you send the payment to me (minus your £150 and any/all Ebay & Paypal fees). I always ship within 24 hours and answer emails quickly - keeping the customers happy has always been a top priority.

For the beginning I have 3 items for sale. If everything will be okay we will continue with more products. So, you must pay me only after the buyers will receive the items. After you receive the feedback positive you will give me my money via paypal.

All of my items are legit, nothing illegal or against Ebay policies.
If you are ready to start now please let me know fast.

Please note: We only ship items if we have received payment for them!

Now it sounds like a very easy way of making £150 each time, I am a heavy eBay user (500+ positive feedback with 100% and proud of it), but I don't want to go ahead with this if im going to be scammed and out of pocket!

The only bad thing I can see is if the "small business" does not send the item, paypal dispute happens, money comes out of my bank for this and they have their money?

I sent an email back asking more questions about a company address and a link to what they are selling (someone must be doing this already)

What does everyone think?

Run away. It's a well known scam. You'll end up with a wrecked ebay account and out of pocket.

I think you should run a mile.

This is what my experience was of buying from a seller who started doing this kind of thing for "Tina" of "saver-express" ("Tina" may well have changed her name and that of her company by now, of course): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2542943=

There are so many scams like this. You'll most likely end up with a lot of angry, disappointed buyers and you'll be left out of pocket. Don't do it.

Here's another poor soul who got caught up in this scam by the dreadful company in the first thread link: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2678877=
  • Thought it might have been a scam, just thought i would post on here to confirm.... Time to name and shame?

It may not be the same people, James, but their advert begs the question - why aren't they doing it themselves? Often, the reason seems to be that they're scammers.

So I can't say for sure, but I'd avoid it like the plague just in case. You know what they say about: if something sounds too good to be true...?

Actually, I've only just seen the comments boxes at the bottom of that page from the link you posted, James. Someone has written the following:

"This is one of the biggest frauds on eBay .you are not allowed to sell for others. The scam leaves you as the only one responsible for the fraud as it is all through your eBay account and PayPal account. These items do not exist. The scammer takes images and descriptions off the internet and sends them to you. This guy has tried this with other members and the auctions are always shut down because they are illegal"
  • Yea I should know better, I've been on the site long enough lol

Hi everyone, sorry for being off the topic but I have recently started selling on Ebay and has less than 20 feedback.

Last week I got a message in my inbox like this,

We're currently setting up the selling of various vouchers.
The vouchers will be for a wide range of items, and save the buyer anything from £5 to £100's.
We're looking for eBay menbers to list these at a Start Price of 50p or 99p in their Free Listings.
We anticipate that where the Selling Price is less than £1, the Seller will keep the most or all of that.
Where £1 or more, then the Seller will pay us part of the Selling Price.
The Seller will obviously pay their own eBay & PayPal fees (small fees on small amounts).
Some vouchers will be sent by Email, whilst Paper ones by Post.
If Email, the Seller will send them to the buyer.
If Paper, they will be posted out on behalf of the Seller, after the Seller pays us any amount due, plus any amount charged for postage.
As an extra benefit, the Seller will also get a commission when the buyer actually redeems the voucher.
    Would you be interested?

The person who wrote this has 130+ positive Feedback and its 100%. He is not a business seller.

But I was a bit confused about the legitimity of this offer. Also I am not getting is the last part of the message that, how we will come to know as and when the voucher is reddemed to keep track of it....?????

    Any opinions please...?????
  • You're not allowed to sell anything that is delivered via email on ebay

Again, if it's so easy, then why aren't they doing it themselves? It stinks like a scam to me.
