Rude customer at Nandos!

Hi ALL,

Today Me and my friend went to Nandos for our dinner.

Anyway, we walk in and get seated at the table. As I walk up to the counter to place my order, a foreign young man aged about from 25 - 30 yo taps my arm hard, I glance round and he states: ''REMOVE YOUR HAT THERE ARE PEOPLE EATING!!''

I was absoutly gobsmacked and so was the staff behind the counter! - The guy approached me and said this as he was LEAVING! - anyway his girlfriend goes to him 'COME ON LETS GO'

I was absoutly gob smacked. The cap is from Topman and is baige colour, not branded like Nike.

And as for people inside Nandos, there was hardly any at 2pm today! - and for the record Nandos ENCOURAGES you to eat with your hands! (as stated on their napkins)

does it really matter that you had your hat on and to be told by a customer too, the cheek, if a member of staff had said it then maybe that would be different, i would have told him where to go

Maybe I'm missing something here on earth would it matter if you had you hat on (branded or otherwise) while people were eating?

Is there a problem with eating/ordering/entering a restaurant with a hat on?

not sure about this but I thought it was bad manners to wear a hat indoors. Maybe it was nice of him to let you know you were being rude Is having the hat on a wigga thang?

    Just a thought

I started work as a youngster in the melting shop of a local steel works. It was a dirty place, the messroom had a rough steel table and what ever you could get to sit on.

We wore clogs and the nature of the job was that you ate when the job allowed it but the one golden rule that no one broke was 'You did not sit at the table with your hat on'
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

What about saying 'I've an unsitely growth on my head and it might put people off!' lol

The strange thing is being the way he was even if it is but manners to wear a hat indoors or whilst people are eating (it's hardly well known is it!?!) is far more rude than the offence of wearing a hat (if infact it is one)

    How weird.

    I'm confused though...

    First you say this:
As I walk up to the counter to place my order, a foreign young man from 25 - 30 taps my arm hard, I glance round and he states: ''REMOVE YOUR HAT THERE ARE PEOPLE EATING!!''

    Then later you say this:
And as for people inside Nandos, there was hardly any at 2pm today! - and for the record Nandos ENCOURAGES you to eat with your hands!

    I think I've missed something!!!

What I am saying Is I was approached by a CUSTOMER aged 25 -30 years old who was leaving Nandos as I was ordering my meal. He stated there was customers eating and I should remove my cap! - But there was about 7 tables occupied at 2pm with customers, hardly busy enough for them to be fussed about my cap!

I think the hat thing, like a lot of other things people do these days that histrically have been considered bad manners, isn't well known on account of the fact that nobody ever pulls people up over it anymore. (much too afraid of being shot at or stabbed)

Trouble is, there's no real easy way of telling someone that they're being rude without appearing rude yourself.
