Manufacturer mpg Vs Reality

My comments about averaging mid 50's is based on 60,000 miles worth of motoring. Is that a waste of time?
For the purpose of the thread, yes. You as an individual are another variable.
Although I will add when I had my 130 tdci, 54/55 was the norm as long as I didnt go daft or let the wife drive it.0 -
I think, my point (MY RANT) was that my change of vehicle ..... same vehicle both Mercedes Vito 115 tiptronic 5 seat dualiner with euro 4 produced a totally unacceptable change in MPG! and that so far Mercedes don't seem interested. On 40,000 miles a year the maths are awesome!0

Which Chrysler is that? Is it a 300C, perhaps the reason for the lack of issues is the fact that the system on that may be using tech from Merc.
Though isn't the engine on the Voyager 2.8 also a Merc derived engine?
If you want any info on DPF's then use Google for a shock, though if you use your vehicle mainly on open roads then I don't think yuou should have many issues.
When Citreon fitted the system to the 2.2 HDi, nobody that used their car for work would touch the 2.2, even though it was much nicer to drive, the main issue was the emissions light.0 -
Well the LAS has had 350 odd Zafira CDTi's, all Auto, based all over London, used by many different drivers, different styles, I have driven vehicles all over London over the 6 years since wwe started to buy them, I have always been curious and checked the mpg on them, none of the ones I have checked have been more than 21mpg, and that one was mainly used as an Officer vehicle so used less harshly.
So over several million miles with about 1500 different drivers they have achieved between 17 and 21 mpg.
These figures are unrefutable, and to be honest I think it is down to the way they are used and the way the DPF regenerates by overfueling to get diesel into the DPF to burn off the soot etc.
The old LDV V8's never cracked 12 mpg even on a run at 60 mph, and would easily drop to 4 or 5 mpg with aircon on and driven hard, these figures you can take to the bank.
I think it is also relevant that all the Mondeos have got better returns than the maker claimed, so either a Mondeo makes you drive more gently or the MK3 Mondeo TDCi is "probably the best car in the world".0 -

Every day they get a mention.0 -
And every day you mention they get a mention, if it is relevant to the therad I will mention them, simples.
Unless you think the data obtained over millions of miles is irrelevant to the thread.
I take it you would say the same if a Taxi driver came on and said a Mondeo being used as a Taxi did 42.55555mpg over 100k miles.
I think you are just a mindless moron, but hey, what do I know, not long till I get my pension, ching, ching.
Perhaps you better put me on ignore fella, worrying over my posts isn't doing anything positive for your piles.0 -

Why would I put you on ignore? You have it every time.
Why are Unison fighting NHS pension cuts?:rotfl:0 -
Dunno if the VM engine is merc based or not (Italian?) But thats whats in the 2.8 and 2.5 CRD Voyager. Think its also in the earlier voyagers.
Also used in boats (might as well be used as anchors apparently) early Range Rovers had them too.0 -

I wouldn't trust Unison to walk my dog, let alone negotiate with my employers.
Though youobviously know more than me, I only talk to the NHSBA, not to Unison about my pension, no point talking to the monkey when you can talk to the organ grinder.0
