  • Hi we are going on the 7th Sept for 4days and are flying into CDG. we use Alpha Rooms for our bookings and you get Trip Advisor comments and personal hotel room photos from people who have stayed in them. I would suggest hotels round about the GARE DE NORD Station for conveinence and easy access.
    Hope this helps

I stayed in the Gare de Nord Hotel a few years ago (it is actual across the road from the station so couldn't be closer). Unfortunately, it was sweltering and I didn't check on Air Conditioning. It didn't have it and boy did I suffer at night...

Looked out to but a electric fan but no luck.

Something else to think of if you are going mid-summer

I spent agest researching lots of different low budget hotels, we wanted a budget option that wasn't too far out of the centre and not grimy, but were't fussy about it being luxurious either! In the end we booked Libertel Canal Saint Martin, very close to a Metro station and close to the canal, it has fairly good reviews. Even though the area isn't amazing, most people who've reviewed it haven't had any problems. If you book via Quidco with Hotels.com you get 12% cashback so the price after cashback will be just under £50 per night room only. This might be of help to you?
Have fun planning your trip, we can't wait for ours!
Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams :)
  • Thanks all. The search begins again when I have a day off of work. Need to start making some firm plans, but thanks for all advice.

A couple of years ago we managed a great deal at the Terrass Hotel. It overlooks Monmatre cemetary with some really interesting monuments.

Funny how every film about Paris has the hotel rooms with a view of the Eiffel Tower, when in reality it never seems to happen (unless you pay through the nose for the honour)

Well we had a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower, and especially at night when it sparkles on the hour was superb.

    I have photos to prove...:rotfl:

lists all budget hotel chains. Most are ensuite, but the F1 hotels have shared bathrooms. Of all the chains, there are plenty of hotels in and around Paris. I've stayed in F1, Etap, Hotel BB, Premiere Classe, all have been fine, clean and simple.
The metro is only in the centre of Paris, the RER runs out into the suburbs. The RER is like the national rail suburban trains. Tickets operate on a zone basis like London, all the metro is in zone 1. If you are staying for a week, from a machine buy a Carte Orange coupon for a week (valid Monday-Sunday), then ask at the ticket window for a Carte Orange photocard, they should give you one to attach a passport photo to. They may say it is for residents only though, especially if you ask at the airport or a main railway station...
    Hope this helps!
