Paris - September 2011 (?)

We went to Paris for 5 days last year. We flew from Heathrow to Charles De Gaulle and caught the train from there through Paris to our hotel which was very near St Michel tube station.
We stayed in the Holiday Inn Notre Dame and we were very very pleased with our rooms.
The rate advertised was €302 a night, but we paid a about £360 for 4 nights. I wish we had paid more so we would have had an Eiffel Tower view room, because they were splendid.
If you need any information ask away and I will answer what I can x0 -
We are doing a cheapy in April and although we are driving down it shouldn't make any difference. We are staying in a Eurocamp mobile home at Maisons - Laffitte which is in zone 4 on the RER line. Its about a 20 minute ride into Paris and 5 minute walk to the station from the campsite. Although gthe campsite hasn't got great reviews we dont intend to spend any time on the site so as long as we have somewhere to crash we're not too concerned. Eurocamp mobile homes are normally of a good standard and you should find it cheaper than a hotel0

Thanks all. I knew Paris was expensive but that Holiday Inn price is unbelievable. Its many times the price of a Travelodge in the centre of London!! How did you get such a vast discount on your 4 night stay, Lady S?
I have seen some hotels advertised at one star, I cannot imagine how awful they must be inside.0 -
You might try to search this website http://en.federal-hotel.com/hotels_paris_42074.htm and also this one has good display for comparison http://www.champs-elysee-hotels.com/
The cheapest prices for hotels in Paris are usually in August.0 -
Hi Rob,
Try looking at Hotels B&B. They are a budget chain that we use a lot when we drive down through France to Switzerland.
They are very good value for money (especially the breakfast) and normally have free Wi Fi access as well. They are basic but clean...I'd say that they are better than a Travelodge myself.
Just pop them into a search engine...their website is in English too0 -

Through the holiday inn discount thread on this board
Have a look at the hotel, it is immense, but if you can at all afford it get the eiffel tower view room.0 -

Be aware the star rating is only indicitive of the facilities available in the hotel.
Just because it is a 1 star doen't necessarily mean it will be grubby, likewise a 4 star won't necessarily be clean.0 -
Thanks all. I looked at the Holiday Inn discount links but they didnt provide anything discounted for the dates we want. I cant believe the price of some of the hotels! I will keep searching but I think I will have to go far out of the city centre to find anything near to what I want to pay.0
