Apple Store Trafford Centre Isses (iPhone 4 purchasing).. what do you think?

I live approximately 16 miles away from the Trafford Centre, I am buying 2 iPhone 4's on PAYG for relatives of mine as a favour and am seeing them on Wednesday so do not have much time. They have paid my mum the cash. (I am only 13)

Yesterday I went to go pick one up assuming there would be no problem, but arrived there to find out that I had to make a "reservation" to get one. I was a bit disappointed, but decided to make a reservation and come back another day. I then later went on the website when I got home to find out that "there are no appointments available". So on to the next day...

Today I called them around 14:00 to ask whether they had any appointments for me to pick up the iPhone's. The man on the phone who named himself Ben had some great news and said that a reservation is no longer needed after 13:00 and I am GUARANTEED to get the iPhone's as long as I had 2 forms of ID!

We rushed there and arrived approximately 45 minutes after speaking on the phone, I went up to a member of staff and asked if they had the iPhones that I was promised. She told me that they had them in stock but she could not sell it too me because I was under 16, even though it was only SIM FREE. I was disgusted by this, being discriminated because of my age. I purchased my iPhone from Apple Store without an adult and never had a problem.

I then had to get my Dad over, and she said she will get another man to help us... he came over and then told us that if it is SIM FREE they have to open the box and set up the phone for me. This is for someone else, so obviously I don't want that. But they didn't give me any other options. So after my dad arguing with the member of staff for around 15 minutes, he decided to get us the manager.

I was telling him about what happened, and to my surprise he decided to talk into the microphone piece WHILE I WAS TALKING TO HIM to tell his staff to spread out. THIS IS TERRIBLE BEHAVIOUR FROM A MANAGER OF AN APPLE STORE. He also explained the same thing but did mention that he would give us a free case for when we got the iPhone which was worth having. But guess what, a minute later after going over the argument... he said "sorry there's nothing I can do" and "Sorry, Bye."

What do you think of that?

I think Apple have terrible customer service, and in the past they have discriminated me due to my age. Most of their customers are under 18 anyway!

most of their customers are under 18?

    wheres you figures for that?

so Apple have a system in place where they set up the phone for you
    hence the appointment system

if its terrible customer service then dont buy an iphone. get rid of yours and really show them

it is only an assumption that their customers are under 18.

but they were extremely rude... i couldn't live without my iPhone, and don't have anything against their products... but for a company of that size and quality, the customer services should be so much better.

fe fi fo fum I smell the blood of a troll.

Even if it was Apple's policy not to sell an iphone to an under 16 then why couldn't the OP's dad buy the phones ?

How were Apple going to set up the phone if the OP didn't have a sim card with him / her?

Why didn't the relaltives buy the phone - would have thought it was more important to be shown how to use the phone if they were techniphobes and there would have been nothing to stop the OP being there to stop them getting ripped off?
