Hi Spikey,
Some of the links on these older threads might help:
Cheap Tyres
I wanna buy some tyres.....
You should get more replies on the Motoring board, so I'll move your thread over there.

H refers to the speed rating (in this case 130mph) - i.e maximum speed that they will withstand for any period of time.
195 (Tyre section in mm) x 95 (aspect ratio - height of the sidewall divided by the tyres width) x 15 (rim diameter)
Other markings are:-
R - Denotes tyres constructio type (R= radial)
82 - the load rating
There will also be another 3 digit code - e.g. 109 - this means the tyre was made in October 1999Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Depends on how much you value your safety.
Bear in mind that those tiny patches of rubber are the only things between you and a tree. Spend your money wisely and by good tyres cheap, rather than cheap tyres.
You can get some very good tyres for £40 a corner. You can get some reasonable tyres for £35.
Try BlackCircles.com and see what you can get. I've also got a code for an extra £8 off the price - I don't know if that's per tyre, or off the total, but it's worth looking at.
I can't post codes here, so PM me.0 -

I'd rather pay £32 + £12 fitting for big name tyres, like I did on Blackcircles.Happy chappy0 -
To Philhuff
My partner needs some new tyres for his Passat and he wants good quality at a good price. I will have a look at the company you suggest. You said to someone else to pm you for the discount code. Could you tell me how to do this please - I don't know what it means. Thanks0 -
If you click on my name to the left, you can select 'send a private message'. For those that have already, I've not been home for about 40 hours now, but I'll send them when I get in - hopefully that won't be long!
I'll also post the code on the codes forum when I get home, too, so everyone else can get the discount.0 -
What's the difference between re-treads and re-moulds?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

A remould tyre has new rubber placed around the 'chassis' of the tyre, so you get new sidewalls and tread.
A retread has just the main tread part replaced.
They're cheaper, but would you really want to put your life on a piece of rubber that's been torn apart, reassembled and then subjected to holding up a tonne of metal while rotating at 900RPM?0
