NHS redundancy post retirement

I am 61 and work for an NHS Trust which is shortly going to merge with another with the possibility therefore of redundancies.
I am thinking about taking my pension (1995 scheme) and working part time. If I am then made redundant will my pre-retirement service be taken into consideration?
I either can't find this information on NHS websites or found it but didn't know it because I couldn't understand it.

Im not sure if your question is about using any redundancy pay to fund early retirement or if you are thinking about taking retirement, and then returning to work with a thought of potentially being made redundant Section 16.12 onwards looks at using redundancy to fund retirement. One thing that you may want to consider is the following.
My understanding is that if you are made redundant the calculation is made based on your current salary. ie, the salary at the time of being made redundant. If you have ten years service and work full time you will get 10 full months salary. If you work part time you will only get 10 months of the salary you are currently on. The fact that you have worked full time for 9 of those ten years is irrelevant. So your ability to fund early retirement may be significantly different in either scenario.
Im not sure if the clock is re set after you return from retirement in terms of continuous service. I'm sure there are much more clued up MSErs who will give you a clearer answer. Alternatively your Union rep should be able to guide you through the process if you don't want to show your hand to HR yet?

Any sensible trust will make it a condition of retirement(taking the pension) that you break service before getting re-employed.
often a month off contract allthough only a full week is technicaly needed.
This was made very clear to us when my OH retired.
Check the local policy on retire and return to work there should be one.
(I do not think this will not be found on the pension info)
If you can convince them to let you take retirement and continue without a break they leave themselves open to a big payout so try.
Also think you have missed the opportunity to retire from the 1995 and join the new scheme.
