Valid MAC Code not being accepted

I have received a MAC code from Pipex in the last week so I can transfer my broadband to BT, but the BT system is not able accept the MAC code I have been given and BT seem to think it is missing a digit. I have tried submitting it with them twice now.
Have called Pipex twice to check the code I have is correct, and their wholesale system has confirmed that it is a valid code. They say they cannot issue a new code until this one expires in a month's time. The code structure is as follows:
AAAA1111111/AA11A (BT think there should be one more number before the '/')
I have looked online and it seems that the quantity of characters in the code can vary slightly.
I am now being passed between the two companies and it looks like I cannot do anything further before this MAC code expires in a month's time. Very frustrated!
I don't really want to have to look at going to a different broadband provider to see if they will accept it when I have already made my choice.
Has anyone had this problem in the past/know which end the problem is at? Thanks

Sorry, can't help but I can confirm that my MAC code issued by AOL and used by BT last week is the same format as yours...0

This may help: should be 17-19 digits. Yours has only 16.

Check the zero or O, if it has one, I had the same thing when migrating a friend to Zen, when I called Zen, the girl looked at the number and she spotted the zero was in fact at "O", and then it worked.0

Well, decided to have a last ditch attempt with my code and amazingly BT accepted it today no problems... I guess it was a Sunday thing.
Thanks to all who replied anyway!0
