You do need to inform them about the incident - though when you do stress to them it is "for information only", and you don't want to make a claim at this stage.0

Quentin is correct.
Unfortunately your insurance company may up your premiums next time even in a no fault incident.
Some insurance companies do and some dont. Ask them while you are on the phone if this will happen
and make a note of the time date and name of the person you speak to.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Even if the person says no there's not a lot you can do about it...
Also, don't 'not inform' them because claims get put on CUE and they'll be able to check that when you take a policy out etc0 -
inform them, tell them for information only, pass on other drivers details also0

thanks for the reply's
I dont think I will contact them just yet going to wait to hear back from the council insurers, as I dont want my premiums to go up when it wasnt even my fault let alone I wasnt in my car was parked outside my house.0 -

I agree with your sentiments, but if you decide not to provide your insurer with the correct information on which to base the contract, then they can decide not to pay out when they find out you haven't told the truth.
There are databases for this kind of thing and they can check when you try to claim.
I understand what you are saying, but you cannot withhold information and stilll be properly insured.
Sorry but it's not a choice.
It's part of your side of the contract and you HAVE to tell them.0 -
It's your call. Though why you started this thread and now make this decision is a bit of a mystery!
If you do decide to go against all the sound advice you have been given as a result of this thread, bear in mind that deliberately not disclosing this means any claim you have in future can be declared invalid by whoever you are insured with at the time (and they will find out about the incident as has already been posted, the details will be on the CUE database for all insurers to check up on you).
And although an insurer may have to pay out to a third party for any claim against you, they will still chase you for the money they have paid on your behalf!0 -
Yes, if there are any personal injuries then those will be on the bill too.
Someone was on here recently being chased for £43K.
Don't do it.
It's just not worth it.
You may very well not be penalised at all or very much for a non-fault claim.
Do quotes if you want to check - it only take about 10 minutes.0 -
can you believe this incident is still going on, I did give my car insurance a call and they said because it was going through the council insurance they didnt need to get involved.
However, this is now 2 months ago this has happened and the council have still not yet sent a report to their insurance, i gave them a call for the 3rd time and again they said they would send a chase up email for the report to be done, even though the driver admitted damaging my car, it is really starting to stress me out now as they seem to be giving me the run around, i just dont know what to do  was thinking of going to the local paper.0 -

Ring them back, advise them you will appoint a claim management company to act on your behalf if they are not forthcoming.
It's a double edged sword, they might pay up to save the extra costs to them, or you may end up appointing one, and having to deal with the credit hire.0
