Can someone tell me when the £5 rewards get paid?
I've not had mine paid in yet.
Is there a minimum balance required in the accounts to be elligible for the reward?

1st to the 3rd of the month and no minimum balance, can even be overdrawn, just need to put in £1000 from an outside source every month before the last day of the month.

Outside source does not include other Halifax accounts.

I transfer in every month from my Lloyds account where my pay goes in and out within seconds onto my Nationwide account where all my bills are paid from.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

thanks for that - I will need to change some standing orders then to avoid transfers between the Halifax accounts

Incorrect. The £1000 can come from any account, including other Halifax accounts.

You would need to specify which ones then as the T&C specify not.

The T&Cs simply say "when you pay in £1000". They do not make any specification as to where the money must come from.

    Please provide a link.

Also, your assertion that the Reward is paid "1st to the 3rd of the month" is not strictly correct. The T&Cs allow for payment anytime up to the 10th of the month. However, in practice, it's always been showing at the end of the first banking day of the month for me (often with a backdated transaction date).

Does anyone know how long you have to keep this account open for if you've had £100 for opening it? I applied online in January, they kept messing up, finally got it open mid-March but they're charging so much to do payments in foreign currencies it's easily cancelling out the £5 a month. Fortunately I hadn't got round to closing my old Santander account so I'll switch back to that but how soon can I do it without them taking the £100 back? I feel like I deserve the £100 anyway just from the stress and many phone calls!

    There isn't a time limit.

Why not keep the account ticking over (for £60 a year), and use another account for the foreign payments as and when required?

Thanks Yorkshire Boy but i think it's too much effort for £60 a year! I think Santander will charge me if I don't pay my salary into it every month so I'm having to transfer it across. I'm sure to forget something. I'd rather do one extra bit of freelance work for the £60 instead :)
