I don't like food cooked in mine either. It's a cheapish one from Tesco and I don't think it actually cooks slowly enough. Even on the low setting it's still quite a lively simmer, which is why I think everything tastes "stewed" if it's left a long time. TBH, I don't like the "school dinners" food smells that permeate through the house and linger when it's on all day either!!0

I can understand the convenience for someone going out to work & coming home to a hot meal, but otherwise I'm mystified by their appeal
something else, the food they produce reminds me of ready meals & I'm not keen (to put it mildly) on them either, & just don't get me started on the squidgy slimy 'roasted' whole chicken fiasco :rotfl:0 -
I use mine for lots of things. Chillis, bolognaise sauce, other pasta sauce, lasagne, soup, stock, curries, stews, etc. Always turn out lovely.

We got one and use it most weeks. We normally do a pork stew using cheapo shoulder and cook it until it's tender. I reacon you could cook army boots in one and make them tender enough to eat.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Yet another who doesn't like hers here!
I bought it dreaming of old style type warm suppers after days working outside. without browning everything is school dinner grey-brown and lacking in depth, so no time saved there! Liquid seems to appear from nowhere and everything swims in juice. BUT meat does cook moistly, and for days when you fancy something slowcooked and deeply comforting but know you're going to be out all day its a possible use0
