Need smallest 5 door hatch with largest boot combination - suggestions
My friend and husband have just found they are expecting twins. So her sports car has to go and be replaced by something she can drive around containing two babies and all their stuff. When not being mother, she hopes to continue to get in the odd round of golf so car boot has to accomodate her golf kit. They live in town with no parking so car has to be as small as is practical to park but still with room for two front and two rear passengers and as large a boot as possible. She used to be bit of a girl racer and would still like it to have a bit of oomph in reserve. Suggestions please.

The Panda can take four bales of Hay.
I like the look of the Skoda Yeti not cheap and discounts are hard to find (quite big though but 1.2 engine is supposed to be good)0 -
dodge calibre 1.8 dieselI
MOJACAR0 -
Any of the 'van' type smaller MPVs would do the job. Berlingo, Partner, Kangoo, Roomster, lots of room, but not very long - no umph though!0
-
Honda Jazz - lots of room and great boot space especially with seats down.0

Was thinking of the Panda too maybe the 100Hp version if you want something with a bit of oomph - but check that the recall mod has been done, which otherwise its a good car - think the recall was to do with corroding brake hoses which were originally fitted with wrong materials.
Maybe the Peugeot 206SW ?Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

Wouldn't touch a Dodge Caliber, though I thought it had the 2.0 CRD Merc engine in it, the 1.8 being petrol, the interior has edges rough enough to cut your hands and I suspect that a lot of parts shall be extremely expensive, though I reckon it would fit Golf clubs in the boot, I liked the look of these, till I sat in one.
Nissan Note, nice car, too small for Golf clubs though I would have thought.
I suppose the only option is some kind of small MPV as previously mentioned, though a possibility that is abit left field is the Golf Plus, large boot, and doesn't have the VW premium to the price used as it is a bit unloved in the car trade, though is still basically a Golf.
Depends if she wants to put the Golf clubs in the boot or is happy to fold the seats down to fit them in.
There are so many cars that fit the bill though.
Cheap used Prius, 57 plates around for £6000/7000 at car supermarkets.
Renault Modus.
Skoda Fabia, though a mate has a Roomster and that has proved reliable and well built, not fast though.
The only car that I think that will fit the fastish and family requirements would be a Focus ST, nippy and roomy, with good supply and reasonable residuals. Never driven one, but all Focus' drive well, not many problems with them, 5 cylinder engine sounds meaty, remember it is a Volvo engine.0
