Hello - off for a week in Paphos this month and never been there before....staying in a friend's apartment and have a car so just wondering if anyone who'd been there before had any suggestions for lovely places to eat, drink, visit or things to avoid even? Been told there's plenty of places to eat in 'Bar Street' but taking our 13 year old son so don't want the party places.....
Been told Coral Bay is lovely? And another friend suggested visiting the tomb of the kings I think it was?
All suggestions welcome! Thanks very much!

Paphos town has plenty of restaurants - some are good and some are OK. There is a Pizza Express in the square and lots of cafes too. 'Bar Street' is mostly bars.
King of the Tombs road is about a ten minute walk away and there are some quite nice restaurants here.
Although it's been 5 years since we were at Coral Bay I think the restaurants here are far better. There was a nice italian restaurant on the corner as you came into Coral Bay from the main road. The food was excellent and the service was great too. There was another nice place called 'Andreas'? which was always our first night restaurant.
We stayed in Paphos for many years and then moved to Coral Bay as Paphos seemed to change into 'Blackpool'. If you like it busy then Paphos Town will suit you.0 -
We visited Paphos a couple of times when we stayed in Cyprus - we liked going down by the castle and harbour, where it's less Blackpool and is lovely if you can a table by the water.
Tomb of the Kings is an area of land with lots of tombs in basically! It's kind of odd as one minute you can be walking down into these ancient sites, then you come back out, walk a few yeards and you're overlooking a school or hospital on the edge of the town! We had 4 teens with us when we went and without exception they were all bored rigid after about 15 mins! And unless you go down into the tombs there's no shelter available, it literally is just the tombs, and we picked the hottest day of our stay to end up visiting it!
If you have a car take a drive out into the Troodos mountains. They have some tracks you can only drive in off-road vehicles but even in a normal car it's still a lovely drive. You can take a circular route up into the hills - there's some spectacular views but at one point you can go quite close to the border so there's signs everywhere warning you not to take photos, but it's still a stunning drive out and there are plenty of spots you can safely take pictures. We dropped down into a place called Pomos which was very quiet but had a lovely bar/restaurant where we had lunch.
Aphrodite's Bath (not to be cofused with her rock) is a pretty area to visit along the Akamas peninsula. Well away from all the shops and bars if you want to see a bit of the Cyprus countryside it's worth going out along there0 -
Best restuarant on the island is Maria's in Vivatsinia on the way up to troodos mountains near Lefkara village. This place does authentic greek food. Do not order too much you get lashings of food at good prices.Amazing views too. Enjoy. Also go to the kurion ampitheatre just outside paphos0

You have my deepest sympathies...Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Went to Cyprus at the end of September into October last year and it was 29c or so daily. It also felt wierd driving a car abroad on the same side that we do here in the UK, felt really odd! Undoubtedly one of the best holidays I've been on and I shall be going back.

Paphos won't be busy in February, it will be dead apart from expats, and seniors on long-stays.
Bar Street will have 2 or 3 bars open only.
Have a drive out to Peyia one evening for a decent meze at the Peyia Tavern. Drive out west to Coral Bay, and instead of turning left onto the Coral Bay 'strip' turn right and follow the road up to Peyia (about 3 miles).
For a pleasant day out drive up to Peyia and carry on over the top to Kathikas, and then on to Polis and Latchi. There's a nice marina at Latchi and a few eateries. Then you can carry on to Aphrodite's Bath. It's overrated, but the views are nice.
Troodos is a definite place to visit. Get a weather forecast first though as there could be a lot of snow up there, and conditions change very quickly. Take warm clothing.
The Akamas is great, but don't go off roading in a saloon car.
Defensive driving is advised.0 -

Sorry a bit late to this thread. We've been to Paphos twice. Near Paphos there is probably the best restaurant you could ever wish to go to- 7 St George's Tavern Yeroskipos abot 1/2 mile off the road between Paphos and the Airport. http://www.7stgeorgestavern.com/
Oh my word! George is the owner and he and his family look after you like you were family. Almost all of the amazing Meze dishes come from organic produce that he grows and rears himself. The food is amazing and plentiful-all you can eat but such great quality!
It has had great reviews in the Times, Lonely Planet etc. but it is wonderfully non-touristy. Not easy to find but so well worth it- do try and book.0 -

Near the Tomb of the Kings, very good steaks when we were there. Kids loved it.0
