Sony X10 Xperia or HTC Desire?

My boyfriend is stuck between the Sony X10 Xperia and the HTC Desire - does anyone have any fors and against to help us decide?!

They're both quite closely matched.

I would probably go for the Desire though, it has a newer version of Android, and more RAM.

The Sony has a slightly bigger screen and more internal storage.

also look at the galaxy s which is better than both! however if the choice is between the 2 has to be the desire, it is the superior phone, imo. the desire has android 2.2, x10 2.1, the desire has more ram, and most importantly supports multi touch, this means you can pinch to zoom on its screen when using the net, the x10 wont be getting that,. it is also nicer looking and plays more file formats, , . (i have owned both the desire and now own the galaxy s) HOWEVER MOST IMPORTANTLY I WOULD SUGGEST GOING TO A SHOP AND PLAYING WITH THE HANDSETS AND SEEING WHICH IS BEST FOR YOUR BOYFRIEND.

I would echo what Rusty said, go and play with the handsets first. If you do buy online you are covered by the distance selling law which gives you 7 days to return the product. The BBC covered this very issue here.
