Transferring MS Office from a laptop to a netbook

Hi all
Don't usually post in here but hoping someone with knowledge can help me out.
I have a laptop with Office 2007, and a new netbook with Office starter. I optimistically copied the 2007 files from my laptop to the netbook so I could use the full suite of applications, and then hunted for a setup.exe file or similar to install them, but can't find anything.
I've tried opening the applications from the copied files without installing anything properly, but they won't open (obviously). The actual message I get on the netbook is "This operating system is not presently configured to run this application". I know it can run Office 2007, so is this because:
a) I've missed the file which is needed to set up and install this properly - and if so, what would this be called, please?
b) You have to have the original Office disks if you want to re-install on another computer?
Thanks if anyone can help. I'm going away next week and want to be able to work whilst I'm abroad - without the full version of Word and Ppt it's going to be tricky!
Cheers and TIA

If you become desperate you can use Open Office, which is pretty much Microsoft Office but doesn't have a nice feel, but it does exactly the same, and is free.
http://www.openoffice.org/
However you will need the installation files to properly install, as the installation will contain all the technical files. You cannot just copy and paste the Office files (unless you copy everything into the exact same place, which is very difficult to do).
It's also likely that once you try and use it, if you update office at all, your product key will become invalid because you are using the same copy twice, whereas most product keys only allow one usage.0 -
You can't just copy all the files over. You'll need to install it from the original setup files.0

And addressing this to Lokolo, too:
Thanks both.
As I said, I know I need to install it, but I don't know where those files are - I guess that's what I was asking, albeit it in a lengthy way!
Are they in the files I copied over, or are they on the original disks (which I don't have any more)?
I will give Open Office a try if I get desperate!
Thanks again.

They are on the original disks unfortunately
They aren't copied over at the point of installation. And even if they were, you would still need a different "key" to enable it to function correctly.
Open Office is quite good though, although if you are used to MS Office, it can take a little getting used to.0 -

If you don't have the install discs you'll have to "find a techie friends" who can get you a copy. Or friends who may have an installation disc.

Thanks CyCo. I'll just have to suck it up, I guess. Rats!
Thanks for replying.

Thanks Lokolo.
As it turns out, a very techie friend of mine literally just called me about something unrelated and may have disks I can borrow!
Thanks again for your help.

Remember, as CyCo says, you will be unable to use both at the same time. You only have 1 licence, which is valid for 1 computer. You would need to transfer it across.
(obviously this is assuming your friend isn't giving you one of his "keys")0 -

Unless you want to go down the "illegal route" which obviously isn't the moral way to do it

Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0
